John 12:26
26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
Who or what do we follow?
We follow TV series, sports teams, we dutifully watch our favorite shows, and we record them for later playback. But we don’t follow the command to study the word of God to show or prove ourselves worthy of the calling of God on our lives.
2Timothy 2:15
Study to show youself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We follow actors and actresses; we know more about them and their lives than we know about Jesus whom we trust to save our eternal soul from an eternal fiery hell.
John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
We follow fashion trends and go out of our way to be considered trendy, but we don’t follow God’s command to be holy as He is holy and put on His righteousness!
1Peter 1:13-16
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Ephesians 4:24
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Colossians 3:12-14
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Jesus said to serve Him; we must:
1st follow him and his example of living
2nd be where he is, listening and walking in obedience
3rd serve with patience and diligence until the time that God the Father honors our service So who or what are you following? I hope its Jesus!
