Jesus Said He Will Give You Rest

Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God Loves You

God, who is eternal, all-powerful, has all knowledge, who is everywhere at all times and sees all things loves you! He loves you so much that He made way for everyone who desires to know him to be able to do so.

John 3:16

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

God Had a Plan

Gods plan for doing this was to temporarily become like us humans, by laying aside His Godly prerogatives, i.e, the exercise of His eternal powers, become fully human, go through the natural birth process, grow into an adult male, whose purpose was to die for our sins so that we can have fellowship with God the Father.

John 12:23-27

And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. [24] Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. [25] He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [26] If anyone serves me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. [27]“Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘ Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

God Entered Time and Space to Die for You

God entered human time, space, and history and was born as; Jesus Bin Joseph, aka Jesus Christ, a real historical person who existed. He took up a trade as a carpenter until he started his ministry of reconciliation between God and humankind. At the end of his public ministry, Jesus allowed himself to be betrayed, arrested, face a rigged trial, be beaten, whipped, crucified, pronounced dead, and buried.

John 18:12-14

So the Roman cohort and the commander and the officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound Him, [13] and led Him to Annas first; for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. [14] Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.

John 18:19-24

The high priest then questioned Jesus about His disciples, and about His teaching. [20] Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world; I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and I spoke nothing in secret. [21] Why do you question Me? Question those who have heard what I spoke to them; they know what I said.” [22] When He had said this, one of the officers standing nearby struck Jesus, saying, “Is that the way You answer the high priest?” [23] Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?” [24] So Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

John 18:28-38

Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium i so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. [29] Therefore Pilate went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?” [30] They answered and said to him, “If this Man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.” [31] So Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him, “We are not permitted to put anyone to death,” [32] to fulfill the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die. [33] Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” [34] Jesus answered, “Are you saying this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about Me?” [35] Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?” [36] Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” [37] Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” [38] Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?”

John 19:1-19

Pilate then took Jesus and scourged a Him. [2] And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and put a purple robe on Him; [3] and they began to come up to Him and say, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and to give Him slaps in the face. [4] Pilate came out again and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him.” [5] Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the Man!” [6] So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, “Crucify, crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.” [7] The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God.” [8] Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid; [9] and he entered into the Praetorium again and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. [10] So Pilate said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” [11] Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” [12] As a result of this Pilate made efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out saying, “If you release this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar.” [13] Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. [14] Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!” [15] So they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” [16] So he then handed Him over to them to be crucified. [17] They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. [18] There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between. [19] Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It was written,“ JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

John 19:25-30

But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. [26] When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” [27] Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household. [28] After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, “I am thirsty.” [29] A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. [30] Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “ It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

John 19:31-35

Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath ( for o that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. [32] So the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; [33] but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. [34] But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

John 19:38-42

After these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body. [39] Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight. [40] So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. [41] Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. [42] Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Jesus Rose From the Dead on the Third Day

On the third day of being buried in the tomb, Jesus picked back up his Godly prerogatives, self-resurrected, showed himself to his followers over many days, various ways, and different locations.

Matthew 27:62-66

Now on the next day, the ad day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate, [63] and said, “Sir, we remember that when He was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I am to rise again.’ [64] Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” [65] Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go, make it as secure as you know how.” [66] And they went and made the grave secure, and along with the guard they set a seal on the stone.

John 20:1-18

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. [2] So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” [3] So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb. [4] The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; [5] and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. [6] And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, [7] and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. [8] So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. [9] For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. [10] So the disciples went away again to their own homes. [11] But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; [12] and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying. [13] And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” [14] When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. [15] Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” [16] Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher). [17] Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'” [18] Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her.

John 20:19-21

So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “ Peace b be with you.” [20] And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. [21] So Jesus said to them again, “ Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

John 20:24-29

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, d was not with them when Jesus came. [25] So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” [26] After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” [27] Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” [28] Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” [29] Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”
