We as followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to be ready to give a reason, defense or plea (apology) of our justified belief in the hope of a resurrection and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Strong’s defines “apologia” as follows:
G627 ἀπολογία apologia (a-po-lo-ǰiy’-a) n.
a plea (“apology”).
KJV: answer (for self), clearing of self, defense
Be Ready Always to Give an Answer
1Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
But… what are we to give a defense of? Some focus on answering questions which is good and right! Some focus on philosophy while others on the sciences. The heavy weights fight on the defense of the bible battle front, and there are those who slug it out on the human rights and legal side of things.
Why do we as Christians, spend the time and energy and perhaps lay down our lives in these endeavors? Because Jesus commanded us to be salt and light in this world and to be ambassadors for His coming kingdom.
However there is an over-arching reason for all of this activity, a reason that touches all humanity, a reason that none shall escape, and that will impact all lives for eternity! That reason is DEATH and JUDGMENT!
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
The bible clearly states in stark terms that; Adam the blueprint for all humanity sinned and passed on the propensity for sin to all humankind. God put in placed a punishment for and to curtail sin called death.
Sin, Missing the Mark
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
ALL of humanity (excluding Jesus) has missed the mark of living a life devoid of sin, which is the standard God set for meeting His requirement to be considered righteous (or in right standing with Him.)
Romans 1:18-32 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
God’s wrath or justifiable abhorrence of mankind’s sin is waiting in judgement all who live in disobedience to what they know is right. God has put into our hearts and nature the knowledge of Himself, His love, power, mercy, and goodness, more importantly the ability to make a moral choice between right and wrong, good and bad. But humanity willingly blots out all thoughts of God from its heart and mind.
Wise Fools
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Mankind has setup all kinds of beliefs, ideas, sciences, theories, philosophical mutterings, evolution, and godless religions in order to avoid acknowledging God and His righteousness, their sins, and judgment.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
God’s response is ok, you want to live a life outside of me, a life of immorality, sin, rebellion and godlessness then have at it. So He stops convicting them of sin and permits all who desire to live that lifestyle to do so.
Filled With Unrighteousness
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
After God allows people to dump from their minds and hearts any and all thoughts of Gods true righteousness and to cut off the bands moral restraints those who would live in error become filled with the works and deeds of darkness.
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Oh They Know! What you may ask? That they are in opposition to God and His plan for their life to live righteously and holy but they refuse and lead others to rebel against God and take great pleasure in those who do the like same things.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
However, God emphatically states that people will be rewarded death for their sins! Please be aware this is a two-part reward!
Judgement Day
Judgement: HELL in the Lake of Fire, the Eternal Reason Why We Give Our Plea or “Apologia”
The bottom-line is this; man is an eternal being who lives in a temporal physical body. When we die and we all will experience that to one degree or another our soul (inner-most being) the real us goes on to its eternal reward.
Listen, I’m a bottom-line type person and as a Christian I understand the importance to presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world because there are stark, dark, inescapable, overwhelming, terrifying, indescribable, eternal consequences for all who live in rebellion and error against God. There is a God who will judge all mankind from the first created to the last born.
If you are not found written in the Book of Life (you did not accept Jesus’ atoning death on the cross to forgive your sins, you rejected Him as Lord and Savior) you will be judged with no hope, no way, no payment for your sins before a Holy and righteous God, knowing that you rejected and spurned His love, mercy, grace, truth, kindness, patience, goodness, light, fellowship, presence, but more so His substitute payment for your sins. And being found in that condition with no covering or payment for your sins you will have to pay with your soul’s eternal separation and punishment from God and all that is good, peaceful and holy, never, ever being able to pay off your souls debt of sin.
After Death What?
Revelation 20:11-15
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

So I plea with you avoid eternal hell and separation from God!
